What can I say? Usually my pictures, no matter what they're of, just don't look right to me unless I do some cross processing. I think I'm going to make a ring flash today from old cardboard and aluminum foil. Joy! It's getting cold here, which I'm against.

Hah. I crack myself up. Actually, what recurrentdream said is true: for film, it means processing one type of film as another. It used to be a lot more viable when there were lots of types of film in production. For some films, if you do this, it wrecks the film. For others, it just messes with the colors- a lot of times these days the only way to do it results in a color shift towards green.
You can achieve the same thing in PS though, just by playing with the levels and channels balance of separate colors. It's pretty clunky compared to film X-processing though- sad day. Or, there's a bunch of photoshop actions you can buy the mimic cross processing. I have a lot of them and a lot of them really suck- EEK!
And that's more than you ever wanted to know. About anything.
