Man, I went to the burning of El Kookooee on Sunday and it was a total blast. I took some Polaroids and they're not great but here you go anyway.
This guy is my future ex-boyfriend, he just doesn't know it yet. Also, I don't know his name or anything so.... maybe I'm dreamin hehe.

There were a lot of dancers and things apparently, but I got there kinda late and I only caught this belly dancer, and she was pretty cool. I got another picture of her, pretty similar to this one, except it has all kinds of white finger-branches in it like sometimes the Polaroids get if they're jammed when coming out of the camera or if the film's expired. A lot of my shots had expired artifacts on them- guess I gotta come to terms. My film's gonna look expired from now til the end. That's okay, sometimes cool stuff happens with expired film.

Oh and there were these Aztec looking dancers but I couldn't get close enough for a decent shot. I was like shooting this one over people's heads into direct sun- that's a recipe for disaster. Or if not disaster, than a crappy shot. They were facing all the different directions. Man, they kept dancing for a long time, too. I'd like to know where they came from- is there a group in town that does that sort of thing? Can little gueritas join?

There was one guy who was completely decked out and had shells on his ankles and things, but again, couldn't get close enough. Here were some of the others when they were waiting for their turn to dance. Since I'm all addicted to primary colors, of course I was all "eeee!" and took a picture. I wish I'd manually focused, but there you are. No time, no space. My Polaroid isn't exactly good for sly photojournalism.

Here are some of my friends who were there. It's Josette and Julie. Julie is going to be a nurse pretty soon, she is almost done with school. Both of them are good people and it's the first time I've seen them in so long. I just associate them with other things now, so I've had a hard time getting out and seeing them. Now maybe I'm ready to move on. I just want to be a good people like they are. Life goal. Yeyah.

I liked this one. I took it as a deliberate homage to erica from flickr. It's not as great as her stuff, but I've come to terms with my suckiness a lot more lately so that's fine haha. She's all about the light and stuff, her Polaroids are ace. She seems really... like, kind of disturbed or sad all the time, which I can identify with. Here's her photostream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pumkinlittle/

I tried to take a bunch when the thing was actually on fire: epic fail. Still, lots of fun. Here my friends Marc and Josette stand in front of the Cucuy but you can only see Marc's silhouette. We had some strangers holding two external flashes right behind me in order to light this, but I think I fired off the shot too soon so it didn't make a difference. But still, you can kinda get an idea of the burning there in the background. It was nice and warm to be standing there right by the front.

Man,
Magnus's parents get back today. I'm gonna MISS him. He is so much more calm than Boo, and they're so good together when they play. I'm worried Boo is going to get depressed when he doesn't have Magnus around anymore. Plus, two dogs in my bed keeps me warmer than one- and it's winter time!
